Two late points from Shane McGuigan saw Derry earn a 0-16 to 1-13 draw against Galway in this evening’s Allianz Football League clash at Celtic Park.
After earning two wins from their first two outings in Division 1, the Connacht champions looked on course for a third victory in-a-row after having built up a commanding 1-10 to 0-4 lead by half-time.

Dylan McHugh netted the game’s only goal nine minutes in after being fed through by Paul Conroy and a couple of points from Matthew Tierney and John Maher, along with some Shane Walsh two-pointers, would help send the visitors towards a nine-point advantage by the break.
Derry were a transformed side in the second-half however, as McGuigan and Lachlan Murray, who made a superb impact off the bench, shot scores to bring them back into the game after goalkeeper Neil McNichol had went close to finding the net for them five minutes into the restart before seeing his effort deflected over.
A Conor Glass point left a goal between the teams with a quarter hour remaining and, from there, Murray and McGuigan managed to make it a one-point game, with the latter’s free in the 68th minute proving the equaliser as Paddy Tally’s side avoided a third straight loss.
