Jack O’Connor wasn’t too downbeat after Kerry’s first home defeat to Donegal since 1998 last Saturday, suggesting that they had played better than they had in their last-gasp win over Derry the previous weekend.
“It was obvious that Donegal were a fair bit ahead of us, sharpness-wise and maybe fitness-wise,” the Kerry manager told reporters after the rescheduled Allianz Football League Division 1 Round 1 tie in Killarney.
“There were times when it looked like ty had a run on us, but in fairness to our fellas, we battled well in the game and possibly could have got something out of it.
“I would say in many ways we played better than we did last Sunday without getting anything out of the game.”
