Oisín McConville gave credit to London after they inflicted a surprise Allianz League Division 4 defeat on his Wicklow charges on Sunday.

The Exiles’ 1-20 to 0-21 victory came just a week after they suffered an 18-point drubbing at the hands of Wexford, while Wicklow went into last weekend’s clash in Ruislip cold after their Round 1 tie against Waterford was postponed at the 11th hour due to Storm Eowyn.

McConville told the GAA Social podcast: “Disappointing result, but like I have to say London were good. We probably just fell short.

“You’d know that they had a game under their belt, regardless of how poor they felt they were last week.

“They still had a game under their belt and we didn’t and you probably could see that they were more in tune with the new rules and stuff than we were so yeah, back to the drawing board and obviously because our game was cancelled last week we’re five weeks on the hoof now so we need to get a grip with it pretty quickly.

“Six days to recover from London and go at it again so wasn’t exactly the result we were looking for but, as I say, London were good today and fair play to them.”
