"You're not allowed to have a bad opinion on them, by the looks of it"

Armagh boss Kieran McGeeney gave his thoughts once more on the new rule changes after his team’s victory over Tyrone last night in the second round of the Allianz Football League.

The All-Ireland champions blew the Red Hands away with a sizzling first-half display at the BOX-IT Athletic Grounds, where they took in a massive 1-14 to 0-3 lead.

Speaking to RTE Sport after his team’s 1-23 to 0-19 victory in the end, McGeeney shared his opinion on the rule changes which he has been sceptical over from the start.

"You have to be careful. You're not allowed to have a bad opinion on them, by the looks of it. I just think it was a lot of rules that already existed,” he said.

"The throw-up, you weren't supposed to be pulling and hauling. If you had a quick free-kick, if somebody stood across it, it was supposed to be brought up 20 yards. All of those things existed.

"I think the two-point arc is very good. I don't think it should exist for a free though. It's just too big of a penalty for some of the infractions. But, listen, you just try and go with it. Everybody seems to want to do something different.

"There was a brilliant game 30 years ago, I missed that generation. We'll just have to get back to it."
