The Derry GAA Centre of Excellence

Derry City has secured permission to train at the Derry GAA’s Centre of Excellence in Owenbeg.

The decision was rubber stamped at a meeting of the GAA’s Central Council at Croke Park this morning and is set to see the League of Ireland club using the facility as a temporary training base until they develop their own purpose-built site.

Last month saw Derry county board’s executive endorsing Derry City FC’s approach over the use of the Owenbeg facility and now it has been given the green light by the Association.

It had been anticipated that the GAA’s Central Council would rubber stamp the move after the beginning of December saw it approving MacHale Park, Castlebar to stage the URC clash between Connacht and Munster on March 29th.
