Ahead of the eagerly-awaited release of Gladiator II this Friday, Paul Mescal returned to his GAA roots.
The Oscar-nominated Maynooth native, who plays the lead role of Lucius in the Hollywood blockbuster, brushed up on his football and hurling skills on the hallowed turf of Croke Park recently. He revealed that it was first run-out on the pitch since 2015.
Mescal captained Kildare in the 2014 Leinster MFC final when he marked future Dublin senior star Con O'Callaghan. He also represented the Lilywhites at U21 level before suffering a broken jaw which prompted him to concentrate on acting.
