Sheehan captains new club to Cork Premier JHC success

Former All-Ireland SFC winner Ciarán Sheehan was among the goals as he captained Russell Rovers to a Cork Premier JHC success yesterday.

Sheehan, who won the Sam Maguire with Cork in 2010 before spending six years in the AFL with Carlton, raised a 51st minute green flag for Rovers in their 3-13 to 0-15 final victory over St Catherine's at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh. The veteran dual star transferred from his home club Éire Óg last year after moving to the Shanagarry/Ballycotton area of east Cork.

The soon-to-be 34-year-old and his new team-mates can now look forward to a Munster Club JHC semi-final against Tipperary's Moyle Rovers on November 16. Sheehan resumed his inter-county football career with the Rebels after returning from Australia in 2019, but was forced to retire two years later due to a knee injury.
