2024 Offaly SHC finalists Ballinamere have signalled the intent for 2026 by appointing Sean Treacy as their new manager.

The two-time Galway All-Star defender takes over from Niall Rigney and former Offaly GAA chairman and hurling star Michael Duignan who stepped down after Ballinamere succumbed to three-in-a-row champions Kilcormac/Killoughey at the quarter-final stage in September. The north Offaly club reached their first Offaly SHC final since 1908 under ex-Laois powerhouse Rigney last year, but never really got going this season.

Treacy will be assisted by fellow-Portumna man Damien Coleman, who had a brief stint as Offaly GAA Operations Manager two years ago and will also be involved with Westmeath in 2026. Treacy is highly-rated, having coached his home club to an All-Ireland club SHC title in 2006 and Kiladangan to Tipperary SHC glory in 2020.

He was also part of Clare manager Brian Lohan’s backroom team a few years ago.
