Over one million watched All-Ireland SHC final on RTÉ

More than one million viewers watched last Sunday’s All-Ireland SHC final on RTÉ television.

The final, which saw Tipperary sweep past favourites Cork thanks to a sensational second half display, drew an average audience of 980,000, with viewing figures peaking at 1,119,000 just after 5pm.

In a sign of the times, The Sunday Game Live (including Sunday Game Beo) had 400,645 streams on RTÉ Player. That makes it the highest online audience for a GAA football or hurling final on RTÉ Player to date. A further 244,000 viewers watched The Sunday Game highlights show on RTÉ2 on Sunday night.

RTÉ also revealed that ’The Sunday Game’ social media accounts saw video views reaching 6.19 million, with over 668,000 engagements. The state broadcaster’s Up for the Match programme on Saturday night attracted a TV audience of 316,000, and had 58,000 streams on RTÉ Player.

Last year’s All-Ireland final between Clare and Cork had an average of 1,037,000 tuned into live coverage on RTÉ, which peaked at 1,231,000.
