Neil Rogers has stepped down as London senior hurling manager due to family commitments.
The Birr native and St Gabriel’s clubman spent two years at the helm, delivering the Christy Ring Cup and also achieving promotion to Division 2 of the Allianz League in his second year. The Exiles defeated Derry to win the Ring Cup and end a 13-year wait for hurling silverware.
“Neil Rogers has informed the London GAA Management Committee that he will be stepping down from his role as Senior Hurling Manager due to family commitments,” a London GAA statement read.
“Neil became the manager in December 2023 ahead of the 2024 season, having been a coach for that year with Kevin McMullan, and his two-year term was very successful, firstly achieving promotion this year to Allianz Hurling League Division 2 for 2026.
“Ultimately, Neil’s time in charge will best be remembered for winning the Christy Ring Cup against Derry in Croke Park in May, ending the county’s 13-year wait for silverware in hurling and, in turn, earning promotion to the Joe McDonagh Cup for the first time.
“The players turned round a four-point defeat to Derry at McGovern Park in the group stage in April to win by three points, playing with passion and a never-say-die attitude that characterised the team under Neil’s management.
“We would like to thank Neil and his management team – Eoin Kelly, Eoin O’Neill, Anthony Nash and Alan Tobin – for their efforts over the last year, and we wish Neil all the best for the future.
“A three-man committee has been set up to determine the appointment of the next Senior hurling manager.”
