Limerick secured promotion to Division 3 of the Allianz Football League for next season thanks to a comprehensive 4-24 to 1-17 win over Waterford in Rathkeale.

Jimmy Lee’s side kept it to script at Mick Neville Park to join unbeaten Wexford in the Division 4 final next Saturday at Croke Park, with the red-hot James Naughton hitting all four of their goals to help see off the Deise men this afternoon.

Naughton, who finished with a remarkable 4-12 tally, would net his first after seven minutes and raised the green flag again 20 minutes later, as the hosts moved towards a 2-9 to 1-8 half-time lead, and two more in the closing stages of the game would round off a 16-point victory.

Meanwhile, already promoted Wexford made it seven wins out of seven by seeing off Longford (2-18 to 1-10) at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park.

The Slaneysiders bagged their goals in the first-half via Cian Hughes and Sean Ryan to move towards a 2-7 to 0-8 interval lead and added eleven points to their tally after the change of ends to head into the final in six days’ time with a 100% record.

In Ruislip, Conor Doyle’s goal in the 64th minute proved crucial as Carlow got their third win of the campaign at the expense of London (1-18 to 1-17), while Oisin McConville’s Wicklow side finished a point behind Limerick in the promotion race after defeating Tipperary by 0-21 to 0-12 in Thurles.
