GAA president Jarlath Burns has confirmed that the Association has completed its buy-out of GAAGO.

The streaming service will now be rebranded as ‘GAA+’ following the takeover, which saw the GAA purchasing RTE’s share of the platform.

Launched in 2014, GAAGO was the platform available for overseas fans looking to watch football and hurling match on live stream before it was brought into the Irish market following Sky Sports’ decision to give up their TV rights for the All-Ireland championships.

‘GAA+’ is now set to see a new mid-week programme launched and it will retain the same package of games which GAAGO had for the last two years.

Reports late last year had suggested that the GAA were interested in a takeover of the streaming platform and its president confirmed the news today at Congress in Donegal Town.
