'Give the lads a break'

The Kilkenny GAA Supporters’ Facebook page has expressed its disappointment at the amount of criticism levelled at the county’s hurlers in the wake of last Saturday’s All-Ireland SHC semi-final loss to Clare.

The administrators of the page have called on keyboard warriors to lay off manager Derek Lyng and his players after ‘shocking comments’ were posted about them following the defeat at Croke Park.

“This is not a post I want to be writing, but we are getting complaints about shocking comments about the players, the manager and just how they didn’t play great. It’s a supporters’ page, not a complaining page. Some of the players actually do read the comments and the Kilkenny GAA Board,” they wrote.

“We felt the exact same as last year. But we lost OK we lost and we lost to a team who just were determined to win and go the extra mile and we can only wish them well in the final.

“So give the lads and Derek a break. We are Leinster champions (and) we push on for 2025.”
