Waterford legend Dan Shanahan is still going strong for his beloved Lismore at the age of 45.
In his 30th season playing adult hurling, Shanahan came on as a half-time sub in yesterday's Waterford SHC first round clash with Roanmore and scored an overhead point as well as winning a penalty.
But despite the veteran's best efforts, Lismore succumbed to a 0-19 to 2-20 defeat after injury-time goals from substitutes Dean Reidy and Emmet O'Toole handed Roanmore a flattering win.
In the first part of yesterday's double-header at Fraher Field, Austin Gleeson bagged 1-9 as Mount Sion cruised to a 2-26 to 0-15 victory over Abbeyside, while Ballygunner began the defence of their county, Munster and All-Ireland titles with a 1-19 to 1-7 win over Passage at Walsh Park on Saturday evening.
