Offaly boss Michael Fennelly says he still sees plenty of room for his side to improve after their promotion to Division 1 of the Allianz Hurling League.

The Faithful men secured their return to the topflight division with a 5-25 to 1-19 rout of Down in Birr yesterday, marking a fourth win on the bounce and sealing promotion with a round remaining.

Speaking to RTE Sunday Sport afterwards, Fennelly hailed his players while also saying that further improvements need to be made.

"There's huge skill in that team, there's a good structure and they're moving well," said the former Kilkenny star.

"They're very selfless. They'll pass the ball to the right man in the right position. Their handling has improved massively over the last number of weeks. That's been very important.

"They've been making better decisions. All we can do is assess on what we've done so far and for me they're really working well as a group.

"We've work to do, and there's improvement to be made but we're going in the right direction."
