Elite level sport is exempt from the new Covid-19 restrictions announced at a special sitting of The Northern Ireland Assembly this morning.
Under the restrictions, which are due to come into effect on Friday, October 16 and last for four weeks, there will be “no indoor sport of any kind or organised contact sport other than at elite level”.
That means inter-county GAA can proceed as planned along with Irish Premiership Soccer and Ulster Rugby games.
In addition, it was announced that no events “involving more than 15 people (except for allowed outdoor sporting events where the relevant number for that will continue to apply)”.
The GAA had decided that all remaining matches in the Allianz Hurling and Football Leagues will be played behind closed doors, including those taking place in the northern province.Tweet
