Mayo hurling club Caiseal Gaels made history yesterday when they fielded an adult team for the first time in a challenge match against Sligo's Tourlestrane.
From Carracastle in east Mayo, the Caiseal Gaels hurling club was founded in November 2008, originally only as a juvenile club.
The seeds of Caiseal Gaels were sown in 2009 when they claimed the Mayo U12 and U13 B titles.
The Gaels then began to flourish with the addition of players from the surrounding parishes of Ballaghaderreen, Charlestown and Kilmovee.
In 2012, they represented Mayo in the Feile na nGael and reached the All-Ireland semi-final having topped their group.
For Caiseal Gaels, the culmination of all the hard work put into their underage structures over the last ten years or so is now bearing fruit.
