Roscommon and Meath finished all square (2-15 to 0-21) in this evening’s All-Ireland SFC Group 2 clash at King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park.
In the end, it was Ruairi Kinsella’s point which saw the sides sharing the spoils after the home side had come from five points down at the break to move themselves in front ahead of the visitors’ equaliser.
Kinsella had opened Meath’s account with an earlier two-pointer prior to Diarmuid Murtagh finding the net for the Rossies in the sixth minute and they’d goal again via Ben O’Carroll on the quarter four mark.
After that, it was Robbie Brennan’s men that dominated the game up to half-time as the scores of James Conlon, Matthew Costello and Conor Duke moved them towards a 0-16 to 2-5 lead at the break.
Enda Smith sailed over the first of Roscommon’s five second-half two-pointers and he’d make it a one-point game in the 54th minute ahead of Murtagh popping one from beyond the arc to storm Davy Burke’s side in front.
Kinsella grabbed what proved to be the game’s levelling score in the 62nd minute, with both sides having their chances to win it in the closing stages.
The result sees the Royals through to the knock-out stages while Roscommon will need a result against Cork in two weeks’ time to keep their championship hopes alive.
