Armagh manager Kieran McGeeney says his side’s discipline let them down against Donegal yesterday in Ballybofey as they slipped to their second defeat in Division 1.

After having trailed by 0-12 to 1-3 at half-time, the All-Ireland champions trimmed their deficit down to three points before a moment of madness saw Aidan Forker red-carded after head-butting Michael Murphy in the chest moments after the latter’s introduction as a substitute.

From there, the home side cruised to a 0-21 to 1-10 victory and, speaking after the game, McGeeney admitted they let their discipline go.

“We’re very disappointed,” he is quoted saying by newryreporter.com.

“Discipline was huge in the game; it was on our side, and we let it go. It is a harsh lesson for us but you just have to take it on the chin and walk on.

“You can’t brush this over, we got ourselves back into the game easily at the beginning of the second-half, we were well in control and then we just let it go.”
