GAAGO championship rights up for grabs

The GAA is seeking expressions of interest for the media rights to championship games currently broadcast on GAAGO.

It comes after the Association was advised by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to go to tender for the rights two years into the current five-year agreement with the streaming service. Other media outlets such as Virgin Media, TG4 and possibly Amazon have until next Monday, August 12 to decide if they will bid for the rights.

GAAGO secured a championship rights package after Sky Sports' nine-year association came to end in 2022, but it has been the subject of much criticism due to the high volume of games behind a paywall on a service reliant on broadband.

RTÉ and the BBC's current TV deals with the GAA remain unaffected.
