A GAA club in South Armagh is in mourning following the tragic death of one of its brightest prospects.

Silverbridge GFC – the club of GAA president Jarlath Burns – has suspended all activities as a mark of respect to 17-year-old Lochlann Murray, who passed away last weekend after falling off the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare.  

“Our entire community are mourning the tragic death of Lochlann Murray RIP,” the club said in a heartfelt tribute.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his mother and father Jodi and Kieran, sister Hannah. Grandparents Lochlann and Maeve Murray and Jean Viau. Lochlann’s extended family, friends and teammates.

“Lochlann has been part of this year’s minor team and in recent years has won the Minor Championship, U16 league and U15 shield. Lochlann was affectionately known to his friends and everyone around the club as Locky.

“Locky had a great sense of humour and an infectious smile, he always enjoyed the craic with his team mates and coaches. Anyone that knew Locky was very lucky, he made everyone feel valued, always acknowledging you if you met him.

"There are simply no words to describe the devastating loss of Lochlann, may he Rest in Peace. Please keep Lochlann and his family and friends in your prayers.

“As a mark of respect all club activities have been suspended.”

This evening we welcome Locky’s friends, parents & coaches to our Bowls Room from 5pm to 8pm to have a cup of tea and a chat to allow us to come together at this difficult time.
