Football final pulled in the viewers on RTÉ and BBC

Last Sunday’s All-Ireland football final attracted a large TV audience on RTÉ and BBC.

Over one million viewers in Ireland tuned into RTÉ’s coverage of the Dublin-Kerry decider at Croke Park. An average of 971,000 viewers were watching The Sunday Game Live on RTÉ2, while there were 181,000 streams on RTÉ Player as Dublin prevailed by two points.

The RTÉ2 audience represented a share of 77% of those watching TV at the time, with the the audience peaking at 1,096,000 at 5.06pm, while the overall audience reached was 1,245,000.

Meanwhile, a peak audience of 800,000 tuned in to watch BBC’s coverage. The game was broadcast live across the UK on BBC2 for the first time and included contributions from Academy Award nominee Paul Mescal, Line of Duty’s Adrian Dunbar, new Late Late Show host Patrick Kielty and comedian Dara Ó Briain.
