Wexford finished their Allianz Football League Division 4 campaign with a 1-16 to 0-13 win over Carlow at Chadwicks Wexford Park this evening.

Both teams had been out of the promotion race going into this weekend’s seventh round of games, making this one effectively a warm-up for their respective Leinster SFC openers next month.

The Slaneysiders got out to a 0-5 to 0-2 lead after the opening quarter of an hour before Darragh Foley’s brace of points helped to get the visitors level.

Ben Brosnan (free) and Mark Rossiter shot over points that sent Wexford towards a 0-8 to 0-6 interval lead, but the Barrowsiders would keep right with them throughout the third quarter.

The scoreboard read 0-13 to 0-11 when the hosts were reduced to 14 men after Glen Malone picked up a black card, and there’d be three in it in injury-time when Eoghan Nolan sealed the deal with a superb break away goal.
