Three goals in twenty second-half minutes propelled Steelstown Brian Og's to the All-Ireland club intermediate football championship title at Croke Park this afternoon.

Meath champions Trim grabbed the first score of the game with a well-taken Mikey Cullen goal but six unanswered points moved Steelstown 0-10 to 1-2 ahead by the break.

The pre-match favourites were dealt a blow when defender Eoghan Concannon was sent off on a straight red card five minutes after the restart, but despite their numerical disadvantage, they still had plenty in the tank to fend off their opponents, 3-14 to 2-5.

Following Concannon's dismissal for a high tackle, Steelstown forged eight points clear by the 39th minute thanks to a penalty which Cahir McMonagle converted following a foul on Eoghan Bradley.

They went further ahead moments later after the impressive Ben McCarron netted their second goal.

To Trim's credit, they rallied when corner-forward Eoin O'Connor fired home a goal, however, there was no way back for them as the Derry side responded with another green flag from substitute Emmett Deane in the 59th minute.
