UCC and IT Carlow recorded their second wins in the Fitzgibbon Cup last night while Waterford IT also claimed victory over DCU.

2020 champions UCC scored a 3-22 to 1-14 win against UCD at the Mardyke, where Tipperary senior Mark Kehoe hit 1-6 for the victors in the Group A clash.

Cork’s Padraig Power and Conor Cahalane also supplied goals for the hosts while Galway attacker Donal O’Shea top-scored for UCD with 0-9 over the hour.

Marty Kavanagh and Chris Nolan combined for 2-11 as DJ Carey’s IT Carlow side were 2-22 to 1-21 winners over Maynooth University last night.

The Carlow students recovered from the concession of 1-2 in the game’s early stages and were pushed all the way, with Conor Drennan (1-6), Jack O’Dwyer (0-7) and Cian Boyle (1-3) doing them damage, but they still held out for their second win of the competition.

The other Group B game last night saw Waterford IT claim a 2-20 to 0-18 win over DCU to bounce back from last week’s loss to IT Carlow, while there was also a 1-20 to 2-9 victory for NUI Galway over Mary Immaculate.

Evan Niland hit 0-10 for the winners while fellow Galway star Brian Concannon contributed 1-3 to help ensure NUIG’s place in the quarter-finals.
