Ballymun Kickhams boss Brendan Hackett reckons this year’s Dublin senior football championship will be remembered as one of the toughest ever played.
Hackett’s charges came through a battle with Kilmacud Crokes on Sunday, which finished 1-18 to 2-12 in Kickhams’ favour, having lost Davey Byrne and Leon Young to straight red cards towards the finish.
Their prize now is a date with holders Ballyboden St Enda’s in the final as they bid for a first Dublin SFC crown since 2012.
“I always said that this is the championship to win: 2020 will be remembered as the hardest championship that there’s been in Dublin because every club has had all their players,” said Hackett.
“There’s no excuses. No-one can say they got injured or tired playing county. This is the championship to win and will be remembered. I don’t remember a Dublin championship in my time as hard as this with all the clubs having everyone on board.
“From a neutrals’ point of view, you couldn’t ask for anything more. Ballyboden have an attacking philosophy and so do we – 1-18; we’ve been scoring over 20 points in every game so we’re playing attacking football.”
