Billy McCarthy's injury nightmare has struck again with the talented Thurles Sarsfields youngster reportedly ruled out for the rest of the season.

Last month, the 23-year-old made his return to competitive action from a serious knee injury in the Tipperary SHC, following a two-year absence.

According to Tipp FM, McCarthy suffered a recurrence of the dreaded injury during Sarsfields' round 3 win over Moycarkey-Borris last weekend.

He will miss his club's county SHC quarter-final clash with Nenagh Eire Og on Saturday and is set to be a big loss in their bid to regain the Dan Breen Cup.
