Clonmel Commercials got their Tipperary senior football championship defence off to the perfect start last night by defeating Arravale Rovers on a comprehensive 2-16 to 0-8 scoreline in Bansha.
The holders never looked back from the moment Cian Smith netted their first goal three minutes in, as they went on to lead by 1-7 to 0-5 at the half, and the same player would net again the 56th minute to wrap up the comfortable win for Commercials.
Elsewhere in Group 3, 2021 Loughmore-Castleiney were 1-10 to 0-7 victors over Killenaule while Group 1 saw Ardfinnan edge Kilseelan-Kilcash by 1-8 to 0-10.
Last year’s beaten finalists JK Brackens ensured a winning start to their campaign after seeing off newcomers Grangemockler-Ballyneale (1-12 to 0-6) in Cashel.
