Kiladangan and Kilruane MacDonaghs will have to do it all again after today’s Tipperary senior hurling championship final finished all square (1-21 to 2-18) in Thurles.

Willie Cleary’s free in the fifth minute of injury-time ensured there’d be a replay between the sides, giving Kilruane – playing in their first SHC final since 1986 here – a second chance at the Dan Breen Cup next weekend.

In a thrilling final at Semple Stadium, it was the underdogs that led for long stages against 2020 champions Kiladangan as Jerome Cahill’s 19th minute goal saw them towards a 1-9 to 0-9 half-time lead.

Bryan McLoughney’s frees helped to bring Kiladangan level by the final quarter and they’d finally take the lead on 52 minutes through Paul Flynn’s well-taken goal (1-16 to 2-12).

Kilruane got back in front thanks to Cian Darcy’s point but fell behind again after Declan McGrath and McLoughney (free) looked to have got the job done for Kiladangan.

However, there was still time for one last piece of drama and it saw reintroduced substitute Seamus Hennessy earning a free for Cleary to strike over and ensure another meeting between the sides.
