Tipperary look set to be without experienced forward Patrick ‘Bonner’ Maher for the rest of the 2021 season.
Maher suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury in training last Thursday evening and is now set to undergo surgery next week.
The recovery period for such surgery can range anywhere between four to 12 months, leaving the Lorrha clubman’s season in serious doubt.
Having suffered an interior cruciate ligament rupture in 2019, ‘Bonner’ is now set for another extended rehabilitation program before getting back on the field of play.
The Premier men take on Galway this afternoon in Thurles (throw-in 1.30pm) looking for their first win of the Allianz Hurling League campaign having drawn their first two encounters against Limerick and Cork, respectively.
