Sligo are a win away from promotion to Division 3 of the Allianz Football League after today’s 2-10 to 0-11 victory over Carlow at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Sean Carrabine and Niall Murphy registered the all-important goals for the Yeats men during the first-half as they now go in search of their sixth league win when they meet neighbours Leitrim in Carrick-on-Shannon next weekend.

Waterford picked up their first points of the campaign by defeating London on a 2-9 to 2-5 scoreline in Lemybrien.

Darragh Corcoran cancelled out an early Christopher Farley goal for the Deise men and Sean Whelan Barrett would net a second on 44 minutes for the hosts ahead of Farley netting what proved a consolation penalty for the Exiles.

In Chadwicks Wexford Park, Ben Brosnan denied Wicklow the points with a free in the sixth minute of injury-time that snatched a 0-19 to 2-13 draw for Wexford.

The Model men had been three up with 20 minutes to go before the visitors struck in a penalty and they’d goal again on 66 minutes before substitute Brosnan ensured the points would be shared 10 minutes later.

The result keeps Oisin McConville’s men very much in the promotion hunt with a round remaining.
