Leitrim thumped Carlow with a 2-22 to 0-13 win in Carrick-on-Shannon earlier today to lead Division 4 of the Allianz Football League on score difference four rounds in.

Keith Beirne and Jack Heslin provided the goals for the hosts in the first-half as they went on to take in a 2-7 to 0-8 lead at the break.

Darragh Foley made it a four-point game within two minutes of the resumption but Leitrim pulled away over the next quarter of an hour with top-scorer Beirne, who finished with 1-11, once again to the fore for them as they firmly capitalised on Laois’ loss to Wicklow yesterday.

In Ruislip, Sligo also picked up their third win of the campaign by brushing aside London with a 1-10 to 0-6 victory.

The Yeats men two points to the good when Sean Carrabine was dragged down for a penalty which Paddy O’Connor tucked away in the seventh minute.

It helped the visitors to lead by six at the halfway stage and points of Niall Murphy and Pat Spillane late on ensured they’d come away with the win which leaves them right in the promotion hunt with three rounds remaining.
