The Offaly Senior team followed up their win over Kerry in their opening league match with a 2-10 to 0-8 win over Derry on Saturday in Owenbeg.

They will be hoping to make it three out of three this Saturday when the play Meath in Glenisk O'Connor Park.

Minors

Given that Roscommon have withdrawn from the competition, Sunday was the Offaly Minor's first outing in this year's Minor All Ireland A Shield.

Laois provided the opposition for the opener in Borris in Ossory and a low scoring first half left Laois leading 1-5 to 0-4 at the break,

A revived Offaly dominated the start of the second half and scoring 6 points but two goals that could have been avoided were killer blows and were the deciding factor in the game with Laois taking the spoils as the full time whistle sounded.  Final score, Laois 3-6, Offaly 0-12.

Under 16s

The Under 16 team had a break in their All Ireland Shield Championship and used the opportunity to play two challenge matches against Galway to ensure all girls on the panel got game time.

After a defeat to Waterford in the Championship last time out, it was a useful exercise with Offaly winning both games and giving the girls a good confidence boost as they prepare for their match against Wexford next week
