Our Junior team had a good win on Friday evening over Lusmagh/ Drumcullen with a final scoreline of 2-09 to 0-05. The girls will be out again against Belmont in two weeks’ time.

Adult League Division 1:

Our Senior team had a great win over Birr in the second round of the Division 1 Adult League on Sunday evening.

The K/K forwards started strong with Isabella Gleeson winning the ball out of a rook and passing it out to Aideen Quinn who converted it into the first score of the game.

Áine Rigney caught a great ball in the half back line who cleared it out to Debbie Flynn but Carol Mahon put the ball just wide. Aideen Quinn then popped a near goal opportunity over the bar. Birr then sprung into action and scored their first point of the game but Debbie Flynn countered this with a point of their own after a good pass from Sarah Fitzgerald in midfield. Debbie Flynn quickly got on the ball again and let it in to Aideen Quinn who scored her first goal of the game. Birr scored another point with Orla Kilmartin responding. Aideen Quinn then had a great run scoring two goals and a point within a few minutes to keep K/K ahead. A great passage of passes up the field starting from Elizabeth Kilmartin in wing back, to Isabella Gleeson to Aideen Quinn, finished with Orla Kilmartin giving the ball the final flick over the bar. The full back line of Sarah Doherty, Lorraine Keena and Sarah Meacle were working hard to keep the Birr forwards out, with Lorraine getting a crucial block to deny Birr a goal before half time. Isabella Gleeson got another point before Eimear Rigney made a brilliant save in goals. The half finished with another point from Aideen Quinn and Debbie Flynn leaving the scoreline 3-09 to 0-03

K/K were against the wind in the second half but continued to fight hard. Eimear Rigney started with a good save but Birr did manage to score a point after a couple of minutes. Aideen Quinn scored a point and then Isabella Gleeson collected up a free from Debbie Flynn and scored a goal. Birr had a strong few minutes scoring a goal and a point but the K/K forwards reacted quickly. Aideen Quinn scored two goals after passes from Debbie Flynn and Carol Mahon and then Debbie Flynn scored two points. Birr scored a point from a free but Debbie Flynn finished off the game with a goal after collecting the ball off Orla Kilmartin and a point after a solid pass from Marian Bracken, leaving the scoreline 7-13 to 1-06.
