U16 Championship:

Hard luck to our U16 team who lost out to Tullamore last Tuesday with a scoreline of 2-07 to 0-08 in the opening round of the U16 Championship.

U14 Championship:

Our U14s lost to St. Cillian’s on Wednesday in Mountbolus despite battling hard. Hard luck girls!

Adult League Division 3:

Our Division 3 team had a convincing win over Kinnitty in the first round of the League last Friday evening in Mountbolus.

Isabella Gleeson opened proceedings with a point from play after a collecting up a free from Áine Rigney. Caoimhe and Aideen Quinn quickly followed up with a point of their own each. The first real goal opportunity came from Caoimhe Quinn, but the ball went astray. Isabella Gleeson scored her second point after a good pass from centre forward Orla Kilmartin. The first K/K goal came from a scrap near the goal mouth with Anna Doherty giving the final flick into the goals.

A second goal was quick to follow with Aideen Quinn collecting the pass off Orla Kilmartin and hitting the back of the net. Orla Kilmartin scored her own point from a free before the K/K forwards were quietened for a few minutes while the Kinnitty forwards put the K/K backline of Kate Feighery, Sarah Doherty and Amanda Keena under pressure. Aideen Quinn broke the lull with another goal before scoring another goal and three points before half time, leaving the score 5-07 to no score.

Kinnitty started the second half strong, scoring two points in quick succession before Aideen Quinn scored a point and then a goal. Kinnitty had another strong few minutes where they scored a goal and another point. Aideen Quinn scored another two goals with Caoimhe Quinn popping over another point from a free. Áine Rigney came up the field to score her goal and then the K/K scoring ended with a well worked team score from Jiani Guinan, Brianna Commins, Orla Kilmartin and Isabella Gleeson who gave the ball the final flick over the bar. The game ended 9-10 to 1-05.

Well done to our Division 1 team who won on Sunday against St. Rynagh’s in the opening round of the league! The girls fought hard to win 1-11 to 1-07 despite showers of rain during the first half.
