The Kilcormac/Killoughey Under 13 squad

U13 League:

Hard luck to our U13 Team who were beaten by Edenderry in the U13 League during the week. The girls fought hard and showed some great passages of play!

Minor Championship:

Our Minor Team had a very strong win over Belmont in the Minor Championship last week. Well done to all the girls!

Senior Championship:

Our Senior Team were beaten by St. Rynagh’s in the final group game of the Senior Championship last Sunday.

St. Rynagh’s started the stronger side with a goal from play almost straight away. Debbie Flynn then found her stride, scoring three points in the first ten minutes.

St. Rynagh’s scored another free with Sinead Moore popping over her score shortly after. Before the water break, St. Rynagh’s scored their second goal and a point. St. Rynagh’s continued to dominate with a goal attempt being blocked by Carol Mahon, but the rebound was caught by a St. Rynagh’s hurl and hit the back of the net. There were more K/K scores from Debbie Flynn, Jane Lowry, and a brilliant score from a solo run up the field by Grace Leonard, but St. Rynagh’s continued to fight hard to get another goal before half time leaving the score 0-09 to 4-06.

The match certainly was a game of two halves and K/K came out in the second half a more ruthless and determined side. Debbie Flynn kicked off second half proceedings with four points and two goals in 15 minutes. At the water break, K/K had come back from a 9-point deficit to being just 2 points shy of St. Rynagh’s. There was penalty drama after the water break with a penalty being awarded to St. Rynagh’s. Carol Mahon made an unbelievable save to deny the goal, keeping K/K in the fight. Debbie Flynn scored three more points to finish off the K/K scoring, but a late St. Rynagh’s goal meant that despite the strong second half performance, St. Rynagh’s would take the win with just a two-point margin. The final score being 2-17 to 6-07. Our Senior Team will be playing in a Senior B semi-final in two weeks time.
