Jason Sampson will captain Offaly’s senior hurlers for the 2023 season.

John Kelly’s men take on Down in opening round of the Allianz Hurling League Division 2A this afternoon (Sunday) in Ballycran, where their new skipper led them out on to the field.

Having captained his native Shinrone in its inaugural Offaly senior hurling championship success back in October, Sampson has been selected to lead the Faithfhul men this season.

He takes over the team captaincy from Ben Conneely of St Rynagh's.
