U12 Championship:

Our U12s were very busy this week with two finals, the first being against St. Cillian’s on Monday and the second against Belmont on Tuesday.

St. Cillian’s were quick off the mark with an attempt at goals. Anna Corroon was crucial in the goals throughout the game as she made numerous great saves to keep St. Cillian’s out. The first half was very close with both sides battling hard. Lily Leonard and Adele Nugent cleared many balls from the backline to stop the St. Cillian’s attacks. Holly Guinan and Sasha Guinan were kept busy in the middle of the field and were delivering ball into the forward lines. Scores were hard to come by due to the skill of the St. Cillian’s backline but Roise Gill and Millie Kavanagh did manage to get past the St. Cillian’s defenders and get K/K scores to keep them ahead. The girls played a great team game to get the win against St. Cillian’s. Adele Nugent collected the shield on behalf of the team and our Senior players Sarah Doherty and Sarah Fitzgerald handed out the medals to the two teams.

Our U12s were out again on Tuesday against Belmont. Belmont had beaten the girls earlier on in the year and so the girls had to have a brilliant performance to overcome the strong team. The girls played with great skill and determination and came out on top in the end. Holly Guinan collected the shield for the team.

U16 Championship:

Our U16s had their semi-final on Tuesday night against Tullamore in Dr Kelly Field, Tullamore. After a tough 60 minutes, the game ended level and extra time had to be played. Our girls continued to fight hard but Tullamore scored a point in the final few minutes to give them the win. Hard luck to our girls who lost out after a brilliant game of camogie.

U14 C Shield Final:

Our U14 team did very well to overcome a strong Shamrocks team on Sunday afternoon in the U14C Shield final.

The game started quickly with Alison-rose Meacle clearing a ball from the K/K backline out to Isabella Geraghty who passed it on to Cára Guinan. Cára managed to win a 45’ after her shot for a score came off a Shamrocks hurl. Cliona Mannion took the free and scored the first point of the game for K/K. Centre back Saoirse Murphy collected up the next ball and hit it into Adele Daly Brady who won a second 45’ for K/K that Cliona Mannion slotted over as well. Isabella Geraghty came forward to capitalise on a Shamrocks puckout that dropped short and pass it to Cliona Mannion who managed to get around the Shamrocks full back and put the ball into the net. Shamrocks gained their first score of the day when they won a free in front of the K/K goals, but the ball was quickly sent back down towards the K/K forward lines. Liva Bermingham had a brilliant block in the corner of the field that sent the ball towards Isabella Geraghty but her shot drifted wide. For the second time in the game, K/K turned over a short Shamrocks puckout. This time, Cliona Mannion collected up the ball and scored her second goal of the game. Shortly after, there was a scuffle in front of the Shamrocks goal and ended up with Cliona Mannion sailing the ball over the bar. Shamrocks did well to clear a ball, but Saoirse Murphy was ready in the centre of the field to go for a long-range score. Ella-rose Fogerty did well on the wing to get possession of the ball and hit it towards Isabella Geraghty who booted the ball into the net. Towards the end of the half Shamrocks began putting the K/K backlines under pressure with Anna McDonald doing a solid job in the corner to keep the Shamrocks attackers out. Cliona Mannion finished the half with another goal after a fight in front of the goals leaving the score 4-04 to 0-01.

The second half was a much tighter affair, but Cliona Mannion was quick after the restart and scored a point almost immediately. Ella-rose Fogerty got a hold of the ball and sent it in high towards full forward Adele Daly Brady who swiped it into the goals. Adele was quickly back in possession of the ball and sent it out to Isabella Geraghty who swooped it over the bar but this was quickly countered by a Shamrocks point. Goalie Emma Feighery was moved out to corner forward and made her presence known when herself and Adele Daly Brady fought for a ball in front of the goal mouth with Emma getting the final flick in. Shamrocks were a much stronger team in the second half and scored two goals and a point within a few minutes. After some good clearances from Cliodhna Young in full back, the ball made its way back towards the forward lines and Róise Gill got her hands on it and scored her goal. The rest of the game was filled with intense battling from both sides with scores very hard to come by. Cliodhna Young made a brilliant save across the goal mouth and wingbacks Mikayla Commins and Adele Nugent were having top class performances clearing the ball up the field. The game ended 7-06 to 3-04 and joint captains Cliona Mannion and Isabella Geraghty collected the shield with Cliona Mannion also winning Player of the Match for her many scores throughout the game.

Junior Cup:

Our Junior Team had a good win over Lusmagh/ Drumcullen on Sunday evening in Kilcormac with a final score of 3-16 to 0-07.
