Conor McManus is expected to miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a broken hand in a recent club game.

McManus, who has hinted at inter-county retirement, missed Clontibret’s Monaghan SFC Round 2 victory over Killany last Saturday, after which O’Neill’s manager Paul McCartan admitted that the veteran sharpshooter had little or no chance of playing again this season.

“We’ve lost Mansy with a serious injury, the panel is well stretched at the minute,” he told Northern Sound Radio.

“He’s probably going to be pretty long term at this minute in time. It’s probably looking like the season is over for Conor.”

Meanwhile, Rory Gallagher’s appearance on the sideline for Corduff in their Monaghan SFC defeat to Ballybay last Sunday has fuelled speculation that he could replace Vinny Corey as the Farney County’s new manager. Gallagher has been heavily linked with a return to the Derry hotseat in recent days.

Corduff are managed by Seamus ‘Banty’ McEnaney, who has had two stints as Monaghan senior boss.
