An unsavoury incident in last Sunday’s Monaghan SFC semi-final between Scotstown and Corduff has brought misconduct towards physios into sharp focus.
The Scotstown physio was treating county star Jack McCarron for an injury during a break in play when a Corduff player appeared to intimidate him before another threw water over him and McCarron.
Video footage of the incident has been widely shared and condemned on social media, with Cavan-based chartered physiotherapist Michael Lee tweeting: “Nothing like trying to do your job as a Health Professional and getting intimated by opposing players!
“This is where the GAA is heading and it isn’t just down to officials to police. EVERYONE involved has their role to play. Is it any wonder physios don’t want to cover games.”

TweetWhile we always try to keep our messaging positive, we feel compelled to make an exception on this occasion - no Physio / Healthcare Professional should ever be subjected to the likes of this.

Hopefully stern action is taken to ensure such behaviour is stamped out of the sport. https://t.co/FIBdzvquLL
