Vinny Corey earned his first Allianz Football League win as Monaghan manager after his side saw off Donegal by 1-20 to 0-15 in Clones this afternoon.
Sean Jones (1-2) and Conor McManus (0-2) came off the bench to help inspire the Farney men to what was a comfortable eight-point victory in the end.
Oisin Gallen’s free was what separated the sides at the halfway stage, as the visitors took on a 0-7 to 0-6 advantage, but Corey’s charges got motoring towards into the fourth quarter as they hit six unaswered scores.
Jamie Brennan rocketed a shot off the Monaghan crossbar before McManus, who came in for Jack McCarron (0-7) for the closing stages, set-up Jones for the Donegal net which sealed the first victory of the campaign for the hosts.
