Donegal look likely to be without captain Paddy McBrearty for this weekend's Allianz League third round clash against Monaghan in Clones.

The Kilcar ace suffered a hamstring injury against Tyrone last Sunday week which saw him having to be withdrawn during the second-half in Omagh.

Speaking to DonegaLive.ie ahead of this Sunday’s crunch clash against Monaghan (1.45pm), manager Paddy Carr revealed that the chances for McBrearty to feature at St Tiernach’s Park don’t look good.

"He is being looked after by the medical people but at the moment it is highly unlikely that he will be available for Sunday unfortunately," said Carr.

"He is the only one that went off with an injury. There are a few others that had knocks and bruises but they should be pretty much available for selection.”
