Under 13 Division 1 Champions: Pride of Place this week must surely to successful and historical winning Under 13 Team which won the Division 1 Cup Competition for the first time in the Clubs History defeating Donaghmoyne by 10 points on a score line of 2-18 to 2-8. This was a magnificent team performance led by Captain on the Day David Geoghegan however there were 13 Captains on view and it was a honour and a privilege to see what was on show. In the first half Aughnamullen got off the blocks and at the first water break led by 4 points to Zero. In the second half the Fontenoys opened their account and reduced the lead to 1 however that was as close as they came to the boys in blue as Aughnamullen chipped away with further scores to lead at half time by 5 0-8 to 0-3. In the second half Aughnamullen again increased their lead with a goal and 2 points with reply to go 10 in front. A couple of fine scores were scored by Donaghmoyne to reduce the lead however another goal by Aughnamullen left them comfortably in front. However Credit to Donaghmoyne they came back with 2 quick fire goals to put a bit of respectability on the scoreboard and Aughnamullen tagged away a few points and ran out 10 point winners. This was a complete team performance with Goalkeeper Conor Mc Keown excelling as usual, The full back line of Conor Mulligan and Jason Cassidy excelled. The half back line of Caolan Daly, Phil Mc Caul and Sean Deery held the defence together. Into the midfield was the dynamos Sean Murtagh and Shane Geoghegan with both lads covering every blade of grass on the field. Into the forward line was the aforementioned David Geoghegan ably assisted by Matt Mc Nally and Luke Mulligan and up to full forward line was the warrior Ben Mc Geough and the twin tower himself Luke Gilliland. Many credit for this success must go the management of Philip Lambe, Gerard Mc Geough, Paul Mulligan, Martin Woods, Tom Garrivan and Brian Mc Ardle who had this team in tip top shape. U13 Division 5: Our U13 Division 5 team followed on from the success of the Division 1 Cup side on Tuesday evening last when they had a great victory over a gallant Clontibret outfit. On the night Aughnamullen dominated the game with some great point scoring and goal finishing combined with excellent defending and distribution of the ball which was a joy to look at. The foundations for this victory was an excellent first half in which Aughnamullen held a commanding lead. This continued throughout the second half and it gave the management a chance to introduce a number of substitutes who also played extremely well and Aughnamullen ran out winners. The team who started was the excellent Josh Daly who made a number of point blank saves a double save in the first half comes to mind he was ably assisted in the full back line by the towering Daniel Nolan and Noah Duffy. Onto the half back line of the flying Cillian Lambe and assured James Garrivan. Into the midfield Aughnamullen dominated with Ciaran Deery and Sam Mc Ginn to the fore. However it was the attack which stole the show you had Rhys Dooley and Mason Mulligan kicking some fine scores and inside Jack Ward and Alex Bannigan working well in tandem. The subs who came on were excellent and these included James Burke, Sean Kerley, Ryan Phillips, Jack Mc Cabe, Dylan Hamilton, Tommy Mooney, Hugh Daire Hamill and John Woods.
