Toome club notes

RFC Group 1 Round 2: The Reserves Round 3 match of the RFC McKeown Cup against Tyholland was called off on Saturday evening last 26th September. Next up is an away match to Monaghan Harps on Sunday 4th October at 3:00pm.

Upcoming fixtures as follows: Sunday 11th October home fixture against Killeevan.

New York Senior Championship:​ The Club would like to Congratulate St Barnabas of New York on their senior win in the New York Senior Football Championship Final Replay on Sunday last 27th September 2020 against Sligo, in winning this championship they became the first championship winning side to feature 15 home grown players. This is testament to the great work being done by New York GAA at minor and underage level over the last 15 years or more. Congratulations to all involved and a special congratulations to the Cole twins Brendan & Francis who hold strong roots in Monaghan and the Toome area with their family the McArdle’s and the Cole’s as well as Toome GFC, well done lads. Hopefully we might get to see you on the playing field in St Victors Park someday soon.

Training: Training for our Reserves and U15's continues, please ensure that you continue the safe return to play guidelines. In ongoing efforts to facilitate the return to play all guidelines need to be followed to facilitate this safe return. It is essential that all coaches, mentors, management, committee members, players and the parents of underage players complete the eLearning module prior to any return to the Club. It is also essential that all coaches, mentors, management, players and the parents of underage players complete the Health Questionnaire, this must be resubmitted prior to each training session and match.  

U15 Division 3 Championship: Our Under 15's Clan na Gael play in the Division 3 Shield Final against Sean McDermotts. The last time we met this was a tight fixture played at a great tempo and in good spirits, CnG walked away with the spoils that evening and Sean's will be out to prove a point, this promises to be an exciting clash to finish off the year of underage competitive football. The time, date and venue are yet to be confirmed but is expected to be played this Saturday 3rd October, details to be circulated on social media once known. 

Astro Pitch: Our astro pitches are available to hire once again, we have 3no. 5-a-side pitches, unfortunately at this time we are unable to offer the whole astro park due to COVID-19 and will only be facilitating the hire of 5-a-side pitches. If you would like to make a booking please contact John on 085 786 4106, owing to COVID-19 we are unable to provide bibs so please bring your own or make suitable arrangements, it would also be best practice to bring your own ball and hand sanitiser.

Face Masks: The Club have a limited number of crested face masks for sale at €5 each, should you wish to purchase a mask please contact Damien O'Reilly on 087 125 2126.

Underage Players: Training continues each Saturday morning for our youngest members in St Victors Park at 11:00am. This is a great session and the children have huge enthusiasm and are all showing a real joy for being there and are making new friends. The trainers keep the children in small groups, all hands are sanitised entering / leaving and a great morning's craic is had by all. Training for our youngest players continues each Saturday morning from 11:00am, please be sure to come along and bring your own water bottle. Can all parents please ensure that they complete the return to play Health Questionnaire prior to training each week. 

Toome Community Group: Toome Community Group are looking for likeminded females to come together with ideas to improve social gatherings in the Community Centre and the Toome area. A meeting was held on Monday last 21st September, there was a great turnout and plenty of ideas were discussed and put forward. There is a further meeting scheduled for Monday 5th October at 8:00pm in the Toome Community Centre please be sure to let friends, neighbours know and come along, for further details on this contact either Ann Murphy - 087 247 0457 or Margaret Donaghy - 087 759 1240.

Jazzercise: Toome Community Group bring you Jazzercise each Monday evening for the next 6 weeks. Starting Monday 5th October at 7:00pm. This is a super fun way of getting a great workout with each class lasting 45 minutes. Booking is essential as spaces are limited due to COVID restrictions.
