FIXTURES

With the County senior football team now out of competition until the break before the opening match in the Ulster senior football championship, the club season proper gets underway this weekend with the opening round of matches in the senior, intermediate and Junior football leagues on Saturday evening as well as a round of games in divisions 1 and 2 of the under nineteen football league on Sunday afternoon.

In the senior football league, Truagh who won the competition last year open their season with an away game at Clontibret, Latton are at home against Doohamlet who were promoted from intermediate at the end of last year, Carrickmacross are away at Ballybay, Currin, who were also promoted last year, have home advantage against Inniskeen, while Scotstown open their senior league season with an away game at Castleblayney.

In the intermediate football league, Emyvale who won last year’s Junior football championship start with an away game against Killanny, junior League winners last year, Cremartin travel to Aughnamullen, Magheracloone, who were relegated from senior ranks last year have home advantage against Donaghmoyne, that game in Inniskeen, Monaghan Harps who were also relegated at the end of last season are at home against Corduff, while Sean McDermotts have home advantage against Tyholland.

Meanwhile in the Junior football league Toome are at home against Oram, Eire Og are away at Drumhowan, Clones travel to Blackhill, Killeevan’s home game against Scotstown will be played in Aghabog, who themselves are away at Rockcorry and all those games in all three leagues on Saturday evening are at 5.00 PM.

U19 LEAGUE

The opening round of matches in the new under nineteen football league that fell victim to the weather a couple of weeks back, has been rescheduled for Sunday afternoon with all games at 2 PM. In division 1 Aughnamullen are at home against Magheracloone, Latton are away against Inniskeen and Carrickmacross have home advantage against Donaghmoyne. In division 2, Truagh travel to Monaghan Harps, Killanny play host to Castleblayney and St Patrick’s, the Ballybay/Drumhowan combination take on Scotstown in Pearse Park, Ballybay.

CHAMPION 15 PRESENTATIONS

The Champion 15 or All Star Teams from the 2018 senior, intermediate and Junior football Championships as well as the senior hurling championship were announced at Convention back in December and the respective selections will be presented with their mementos at a special function in the Glen Carn Hotel, Castleblayney tomorrow night Friday, March 29th, starting at 7:30 PM sharp. ULSTER COUNCIL SCOR CELEBRATIONS

To mark the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of Scor, the cultural side of GAA activities, in the province, the Ulster Scor committee in conjunction with the Ulster Council itself, is organising a bumper Golden Jubilee celebration concert in Dún Uladh, Killyclogher, Co. Tyrone, this Saturday 30th of March, starting at 8p.m.. This promises to be an outstanding night of celebration and entertainment as it is an occasion that will showcase the wonderful talent that exists and has represented clubs and counties in Scor over the years, in music, song and dance and it will be featuring All Ireland Champions past and present from all nine counties of Ulster. Monaghan will be represented by an instrumental group featuring All Ireland Scór Champions from Scotstown and Sean Mc Dermotts. Colm Kirke (Clones), an  All Ireland winner in the Scór na nÓg Aithriseoireacht/Recitation Competition in 2013 will also be taking part on the night. 2019 has been a great year for Scór in Ulster with the province achieving 5 All Ireland titles at the recent Scór na nÓg All Ireland final and all five winners will be special guests on the night and will perform in the concert. Tickets for this special Ulster Scor celebration concert have already been distributed to all nine counties and tickets can be obtained through the County Cultural Officer, Mairead Boyle or from the Ulster Scor secretary, Ailish McEntee.

MONAGHAN SINGER THROUGH TO ALL IRELAND SCOR FINAL

Monaghan will be represented AT All Ireland level by the newly crowned Ulster Scor sinsir Solo Singing champion, Amelia Murphy from Emyvale, after winning the Ulster title in Galbally, Co. Tyrone last Saturday night and she now goes forward to represent Ulster in the All Ireland Scór Sinsr Final which takes place in the TF Theatre, Castlebar on Saturday April 13th.
