Ballinabrackey 2-5 Trim 0-14
With a late change of venue for Saturday afternoon's Feis Cup fixture Ballinabrackey travelled to Trim for Round 2.
Ballinabrackey took to the field with a noticeable spring in their step, which was greatly evident from an opening goal from Barry Thompson to get the Bracks off to a flying start. Trim not letting Ballinabrackey steamroll them kept chipping away. Trim scored 6 unanswered points, 3 from play 3 placed balls. Before David Carroll scored Ballinabrackey's second score of the game by raising the green flag once again for Ballinabrackey. Carroll's goal came just before the half-time whistle leaving us all square at the break. Ballinabrackey 2:00 Trim 0:06.
Tempers may have been slightly boiled as both teams headed to the dressing room. Some words were exchanged between both teams but it all settled as quickly as it started.
The second half started as a slow tit-for-tat battle. Trim opened the scoring with a pointed free. Gavin Quinn got Ballinabrackey's first score of the half from play. Trim chipped after free over, Mark Coffey answered from play.
Trim seemed to get a foothold in the game all of a sudden, taking a 3-point lead. Simon Finn popped up for Ballinabrackey plucking the ball out of the sky to call a mark, slotting it over the black spot with ease. Although The Bracks kept on their coattails, Trim kept that breathing room between them. Ballinbrackey were thankful that both keepers on the day were on their toes as both Dean Pluck and Owen Dalton kept the ball out of the back of the net.
Plenty of positives for Ballinabrcakey to take from the game ahead of next week's fixture at home against Clann na nGael on Saturday
