Meath GAA pay tribute to the late Nicky Potterton

November 18, 2023

The late Nicky Potterton

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Nicholas (Nicky) Potterton, a storied figure in Meath hurling and a valued member of our GAA community. Nicky, hailing from Kildalkey, was not only a former Meath hurler himself but also the father of current player Nicky.

Throughout his time with us, Nicky showed an unwavering commitment to hurling, contributing significantly both on and off the pitch. His role in shaping the hurling landscape in Meath has been significant, and his passing leaves a void in our hearts and in our community.

We extend our sincerest condolences to the Potterton family, his wife Diane, daughters Sinead, Jessica, Rachel, his son Nicky, and to all those who knew him.

The Meath GAA community stands united in this time of grief, remembering a man who was not just a teammate and a mentor, but also a friend to many.

Details regarding the funeral will be shared as they become available.

We encourage clubs to honour his memory by observing a moment of silence before games.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
