Bhulf Ton 2-10 O Mahoneys 1-11 in Pairc Bhaile Ghib 27.08.2023

Le cabhair dhá chúil sa dara leath bhí an bua ag an bhfoireann baile. Fuair Joe Smith an chéad ceann ó cic éirice tareis calaois ar Kyle Moran. Chriochnaigh Sean Considine gluaiseacht sár mhaith ó Eanna Harrington agus Rioghan Ó Beaglaíoch chun an dara cul a fháil.

A lively opening half saw the hosts trail 0 05 to 0 07 at half time in a very evenly contested match. Tones had two goal chances in the first half. Eanna Harrington hit the crossbar after a surging run through the middle while Kyle Moran and Iarlaith O Kelly Lynch also created a good chance which wasn’t converted. Shortly after half time it was O Mahoneys turn to hit the crossbar as they had a very positive start to the second. They were denied again shortly afterwards with a fine diving block from Sean Kendall. The game turned in Tones favour with the conversion of a penalty by Joe Smith after a foul on Kyle Moran with Moran firing over a point to see Tones lead by 1 06 to 0 07. However O Mahoneys replied with 1 01 to regain the initiative. In a game which saw play swing rapidly from end-to-end Tones hit back courtesy of a fine goal from Sean Considine who burst through the middle to finish off a good move involving Eanna Harrington and Rioghan O Beaglaioch. Three further points from Joe Smith saw Tones lead 2 09 to 1 09 before a late rally form O Mahoneys saw them narrow the gap to one point before Kyle Moran added a point to ensure a two-point victory for the home side.

This was a good team performance with standout displays from Eanna Harrington, Rioghan O Beaglaioch, Joe Smith and Kyle Moran. The game saw the return to action of club stalwart Alan McKeever after a long lay off with injury and a return to action in the club colours for Domhnall Fogarty after a number of years “down under”.
