Ballinabrackey GAA has been plunged into mourning following the sudden passing of former player Barry Coyne.
Barry excelled as a full-back for the 'Bracks' at underage and adult level and was a much loved member of a family immersed in Ballinabrackey GAA and community life.
His brothers Kevin, Dean and Daniel have also worn the green and gold jersey, while his father Paul is a former club treasurer.
The Coyne family run a successful business, P. R. Coyne & Sons, which has been a long-time sponsor and supporter of local GAA teams.
"A great team player" and "a great character and friend to us all" these are just two of the tributes paid to Barry by Ballinabrackey GAA.
"Ballinabrackey GAA would like to offer our deepest sympathies to the Coyne Family on the heartbreaking passing of Barry Coyne. Our thoughts and prayers are with Paul, Rosemary, Kevin, Dean and Daniel and the extended Coyne and Gannon Family," the club posted on social media.
"Barry was an absolute gent who always had a word for everyone, he was kind and caring and you couldn’t be in his company without laughing. He was a fantastic mechanic and spent some of his years working in Australia too.
"Barry played both underage and adult football with Ballinabrackey GAA, was a great team player and a solid full back. The Coyne Family are heavily involved in our club, all of the boys have pulled on the green and gold and Kevin is our former secretary along with Paul, our former treasurer.
"We as a club and community will gather around you with love and support over the next few days and we pray that God will you give the strength to come through this tragedy.
"Barry, you were a fantastic father who idolised your son, Jamie. A great character and friend to us all, a loving son and so much more.
"You will never be forgotten here in Ballinabrackey GAA. We are absolutely heartbroken. Barry’s funeral arrangements will be updated on the page as soon as we know more.
"Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam."
