Operations Manager Seamus Kenny

OPERATIONS Manager Seamus Kenny is leaving his role with Meath GAA to take up a new post in Croke Park, it was revealed at last night’s County Committee meeting in Dunganny.

In making the announcement chairman John Kavanagh said he wanted to put on record his thanks to Seamus for all his work, both on the pitch when he was playing and the last 10 to 12 years when he was coaching and operations manager and to wish him the best in his new post.

“He will still be involved with us but not as operations manager,” Kavanagh said.

Former chairman Conor Tormey said he wanted to be associated with those good wishes as it was during his term as chairman that the Simonstown club man commenced employment with Meath GAA.

“When I went to Leinster Council and Croke Park about such an appointment they recognised Seamus’ qualities straight away and took him on board. We will only realize when he is gone the amount of work he did for Meath GAA,” Tormey said.

In a brief statement PRO Ciaran Flynn said: “We are grateful for Seamus' service, and we will continue to collaborate closely with him in his new job.”

It is believed Kenny’s new role will be in Planning and Participation Management.
